refractive surgery
Our expert team is dedicated to helping patients achieve improved vision through advanced refractive surgery options. We understand the impact of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism on your daily life, and we're committed to providing personalized solutions to enhance your visual acuity and reduce your dependence on corrective eyewear. These procedures are extremely safe, predictable and accurate and typically take 10 to 15 minutes without pain and a short recovery period. It is common (98-99%) for patients to see well enough to return to their daily activities the next day.

Our refractive surgery services include:
- SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction): SMILE involves creating a small incision and removing a lenticule of corneal tissue to reshape the cornea. This procedure is especially beneficial for patients with dry eyes, moderate to high prescriptions and/or the need to return to physical activities faster.
- LASIK (Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis): As one of the most popular and well-known refractive surgeries, LASIK reshapes the cornea to improve vision by utilizing a precise laser. Patients typically experience rapid recovery and minimal discomfort, with most achieving 20/20 vision or better.
- ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens): For patients who may not be candidates for laser-based procedures or with very high prescriptions, ICL offers an excellent solution. An implantable collamer lens is placed between the iris and the natural lens, providing high-quality vision correction without altering the corneal structure.
- PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy): A predecessor to LASIK, PRK is a suitable alternative for patients with thinner corneas or other specific corneal conditions. This procedure involves gently removing the outer layer of the cornea and reshaping the underlying tissue with a laser. This procedure is not often performed anymore due to the longer recovery period.
- RLE (Refractive Lens Exchange): In certain patients, the best refractive procedure may be to replace the natural lens before cataract develop significantly. This procedure can also prevent the worsening of cataracts and subsequent loss of vision in the future.
